The NCTF Fund for Theatre Education secures support for the dynamic and important work being done by the education programs of our member theatres, which reach hundreds of thousands of students each year, almost half of whom are from low-income, underserved communities.
A detailed survey of our theatres’ education budgets has revealed an astonishing gap of over $2,000,000 between the needs of the theatres’ education programs and the outside resources available to them. This gap is currently filled with funds from the theatres’ general operating budgets, but in the current economic climate, when arts organizations across the country face serious cuts in government and foundation support, our theatres need every penny just to keep their doors open. Education programs – though greatly in demand in all our theatres’ communities – are therefore highly at risk.
