Resident theatre around the country is an exciting world of outstanding new plays and musicals, polished revivals, and exemplary classic productions.  Each play is supported by corporate, foundation and individual donors, and a gala opening night celebration.  Each theatre also holds an array of board and patron events, including festive annual galas, which cultivate and reward patrons.  Exposure to the artists and behind-the-scenes experiences can make an evening at an NCTF theatre a memorable occasion for customers and clients.

Among the companies currently involved in theatre sponsorship are Chanel, Tourneau, Merrill Lynch Hispanic Investors Group, Citigroup Private Bank, Sharp Electronics, American Express, Target, leading national and local financial services firms, airlines, and law firms.

Theatre audiences are extremely desirable consumers.  The following is a profile of the general theatre audience.  Event and marketing choices can skew this even higher:

  • 47% of attendees have a HH income in excess of $75,000
  • 77% of attendees have a college or post-graduate degree
  • 59% of audience is between 30 to 60 years of age
  • 65% of audience is female
Indexes 10% to 20% higher than Golf and Tennis audiences in key age and income variables.

Companies can participate in these institutions in several ways.  Customers and clients can be cultivated through Play Sponsorship, where companies can host opening nights as a way of cultivating theatre patrons and board members, or create their own events during the run of the play.  Marketing Programs can access theatre databases of subscribers and patrons for special messages, invitations and offers.  They can also offer customer incentive programs that connect a luxury purchase to a prestigious night on the town.  Gala events offer auction and sweepstake opportunities for products and experiences, as well as key customer entertaining.  StageVision offers an exciting theatre presence on Sharp screens, and an opportunity to offer branded, experience-enhancing programming for audience members.
